  • The rates as set for the statutory minimum wage are based on a full working week. This usually is 36, 38 or 40 hours a week and it depends in what sector one works". Hardly 36 hours (this working week is negotiated in collective agreements). In most cases when the statutory minimumwage is paid it is a 40 hours working week. Sometimes even more. Hotel & catering, as well as retail: 38 hours.

A working day is 7,6 hours for a 36 hours working week. As of 1 july 2019, the Statutory Minimum Wages for young people are set for people up til age 21, in previous years this was 22 and older.

For employees who are employed on the basis of a contract of employment entered into in connection with a vocational guidance course (bbl) and are 18 to 20 years old, alternative staffs apply. For bbl students in the age of 15 to 17 years and 21 years, the regular minimum wage for their age group applies.
