WageMap
WageMap drives alignment across living wage methodologies by creating a globally recognized Living Wage Reference Standard and an agregated Map of comparable, locally specific living wage estimates
Project Description
WageMap is a global initiative that brings together leading living wage data providers to establish a publicly consulted Living Wage Reference Standard that is consistent, transparent, and internationally comparable. Addressing long-standing challenges of fragmented methodologies and limited comparability across living wage benchmarks, the project focuses on harmonising approaches while respecting local contexts. Through structured stakeholder engagement and open consultation, WageMap provides clear guidance that enables organisations, policymakers, employers, and workers to implement living wages that are locally specific yet aligned with global standards.
By strengthening trust in living wage data and improving methodological coherence, the project supports more effective wage setting, responsible business conduct, and informed social dialogue worldwide. WageIndicator Foundation plays a central role in WageMap by serving on the project’s Steering Committee, contributing to strategic direction and governance, and participating in the Technical Committee to support methodological alignment, data quality, and comparability. In addition, WageIndicator leads the Community Building Workstream, actively engaging workers, employers, civil society organisations, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration, share knowledge, and strengthen collective learning across the global living wage movement.
