| Detailed Project Information | The Living Wage project provides up-to-date estimates of wages required for a decent standard of living for workers and their families across the globe. Using a methodology aligned with International Labour Organization principles, the project calculates the cost of essential goods and services and makes the results publicly available in national languages and currencies. This data addresses the gap where statutory minimum wages often fall below living wage requirements and enables informed wage negotiations, collective bargaining, and corporate social responsibility reporting. The Living Wage estimates are recognized by global initiatives such as IDH and B-Lab’s B-Corp Certification process, as well as the European Sustainability Reporting Standards. Through collaboration with universities, research institutes, and hundreds of data collectors worldwide, WageIndicator ensures the data is accurate, transparent, and continuously updated, making it a vital resource for workers, employers, social partners, researchers, and governments. |
| Objective | The project aims to remove barriers to fair wage negotiations by providing reliable and freely accessible Living Wage data globally, fostering equitable workplaces, and supporting progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals. |
| Role of Wageindicator | WageIndicator leads the project by developing and maintaining the Living Wage database, coordinating data collection and methodology, publishing the estimates, hosting webinars, and engaging with funders and stakeholders to promote adoption and usage of the data. |
