Definitions
The minimum wage for the public sector is set by the Syrian state based on some indicators and criteria.
Effective 1 January 2026, Syria redenominated its national currency by a factor of 100 (100 old SYP = 1 new SYP) and introduced new banknotes pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 293 of 2025. The minimum wage was adjusted from SYP 750,000 to SYP 7,500 on 1 January 2026, in view of this reform.
