Working hours

  • The monthly minimum wage is for full-time employees. §43 of the Labor Contract Act (in effect 01.07.2009) states that full-time employees work 40 hours in a 7-day period and 8 h/day. Full-time employees usually work 8 hours a day for five days and have the weekends off, however this depends on the job in question, as well.

Definitions

In Estonia, the social partners, Confederation of Estonian Employers (ETK) and Confederation of Estonian Trade Unions (EAKL) agree on the amount of minimum wage. The extended minimum wage collective agreement concluded between EAKL and ETK will also be fixed in the government regulation. Estonia has a government-mandated minimum wage. No worker in Estonia should be paid less then this minimum pay rate.
Employers in Estonia who do not pay the Minimum Wage may be subject to punishment by the government of Estonia.
