project Description

Through this phase, we continue our work in the Ethiopian garment and flower sectors, and expand into a booming adjacent sector: the leather sector. This expansion, following our successful interventions in earlier factories and farms, was specifically requested by the Industrial Federation of Ethiopian Textile, Leather and Garment Worker Trade Union (IFETLGWTU) and the National Federation of Farms, Plantations, Fishery and Agro Industry Trade Unions (NFFPFAITU).

Our upcoming interventions will build on our tried and tested ways, with improvements and new strategies incorporated where needed to enhance the representation and participation of women. We also plan to expand geographically, entering the Amhara region. This is based on IFETLGWTU and our team's observations of factories entering this area, with working conditions here even worse than the previous intervention regions.
