Minimum wages have been revised in Myanmar from 01 August 2024. The minimum wage for an 8-hour workday has been increased from MMK5,800.00 to MMK6,800.00 per day through an additional allowance of MMK1,000. Minimum wage was initially set at MMK4,800.00 in 2018. In October 2023, it was increased to MMK5,800.00 through an allowance of MMK1,000.00. Now with an additional allowance of MMK1,000.00, the minimum wage is raised to MMK6,800.00 per day.
The adjustment is not applicable to small businesses employing less than ten workers, family-run companies, and similar entities.
