Minimum Wage Increased in Malawi from 01 February 2024 - February 27, 2024

Minimum wages have been revised in Malawi with effect from 01 February 2024. The new minimum wages are as follows:

For urban, from MWK1,923.08 to MWK3,461.54 per day and MWK50,000.00 to MWK90,000.04 per month;
For rural from MWK1,923.08 to MWK3,461.54 per day and MWK90,000.00 to MWK90,000.04 per month;
For domestic workers, from MWK1,461.54 to MWK2,000.00 per day and MWK38,000.00 to MWK52,000.00 per month;
For truck driver international for 30 tonnes and above, from MWK140,000.00 to MWK234,500.00 per month;
For truck driver local for 30 tonnes and above, from MWK100,000.00 to MWK167,500.00 per month; and
For truck driver below 30 tonnes, from MWK60,000.00 to MWK100,500.00 per month.
