The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the labour markets worldwide. It has also pressurized the negotiation on minimum wages. With increasing unemployment and loss of workers’ income, it is relevant to analyze government response worldwide on using the minimum wage as a policy tool to cushion the social and economic impacts of the pandemic.
Governments in Bolivia, Egypt, Mozambique, North Macedonia, and Pakistan have postponed negotiations and approvals of new minimum wages during the pandemic. The earlier rates are still applicable.
