Minimum wages in Finland - 2019

Finland has no statutory minimum wage

There is no universal minimum wage in Finland. In most branches the collective agreement determines the pay and other minimum employment terms. It is also possible to agree on benefits such as food and residence in addition to the wage. Wages in collective agreements are generally determined according to the employees' professional skills, experience and the geographical situation of the workplace. Although there is no universal statutory minimum wage in Finland, most employees are covered by collective agreements specifying minimum pay rates for various sectors. These legally binding minimum pay rates must be applied equally to Finnish and foreign workers. The employer must, in connection with the payment of wages, give the employee a calculation which indicates the amount of pay and the grounds of its determination.
