Workers at zipper manufacturer YKK continue to be denied recognition of their union despite legal backing. The union Petrol-İş, which secured official recognition from the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, says YKK management is engaging in union-busting tactics such as refusing to negotiate and pressuring resignations. In August 2025, Petrol-İş met with brand compliance officers to press for concrete action. At the meeting, the union emphasized that the fundamental labour rights of YKK Turkey workers have been systematically violated and demanded an end to the company’s hostile stance towards union members.
