Sweden - New agreement ends dockworkers’ dispute - September 30, 2025

A new collective agreement has ended a major dockworkers’ dispute. On 11 September, Svenska Hamnarbetarförbundet (HF) union accepted a secondary agreement offered by Sveriges Hamnar, matching terms in the main dockers’ agreement. The agreement brought wage increases in line with the industrial benchmark and restored legal union rights for dock workers under HF. Some union leaders called the settlement “a necessary step out of a destructive cycle of strikes and lockouts.” This resolution may reduce labour tension ahead of upcoming 2025 wage negotiations.
