Sweden - 600 days strike continues – despite contrary messages - August 31, 2025

The historically long strike at electrical vehicle producer Tesla's workshops has been going on for almost two years. Now, information is being spread in the media that the strike is over. But according to IF Metall union: “This is completely false. We have not made a single change to our industrial action.” The information that is now being spread has its origin in messages about an alternative solution to the strike that was discussed within IF Metall. The controversial proposal was to add the text of the collective agreement as an appendix to the individual employment contracts, instead of Tesla signing a collective agreement. The proposal, which originally came from the Mediation Institute, was presented to the strikers early in the conflict, but was strongly rejected by the members. IF Metall says it is getting ready for the second autumn of the strike.
