Spain - Strike by metal workers - October 31, 2025

Workers in the metal industry in the province of Barcelona began a strike after negotiations on their collective agreement collapsed. The unions claim the employers refuse to apply a wage review tied to inflation, and are seeking to remove paid leave and reduce working conditions. The workers' protests have brought traffic to a standstill in the city of Barcelona. Nearly 180,000 workers are expected to participate in the strike to demand improved working conditions and wages after mediation with the companies failed.
