Spain - Congress rejects 37.5 hours working week - September 30, 2025

The Congress of Deputies rejected the bill to reduce the working week from 40 to 37.5 hours without reducing pay. The bill was returned to the Government without being able to continue its parliamentary process. This is the Government's first major setback. The measure has the support of the majority of society and the unions CC.OO 0and UGT have launched mobilizations in support of it. The unions led more than 50 demonstrations in various cities across the country demanding a reduction in the working week to 37.5 hours without loss of pay.
