Slovenia - Government proposes mandatory “14th‑month” salary bonus - September 30, 2025

The Government announced plans to legally enshrine a mandatory Christmas bonus, effectively creating a “14th‑month” salary for all employees. According to the proposal, this bonus would amount to half of the monthly minimum wage and would not be taxed, similar to the existing holiday allowance. Critics warn that social partners were not adequately consulted. This plan is causing friction in tripartite dialogue, as unions demand fuller participation in designing the scheme.
