Serbia - Unions agree on labour law - October 31, 2025

Representatives of five major trade union confederations reached a near-complete draft of amendments to the Labour Law and Strike Law, signalling unprecedented union unity. The key outstanding issue is the representativeness threshold for a union to join national-level consultations (e.g., within the Socio-Economic Council). Four unions push to reduce it to 5% of all employees, while the Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Serbia insists that it should remain at the current level of 10%. The move reflects growing union pressure to strengthen social dialogue and enhance workers’ voice.
