Serbia - Strike in the judiciary - March 31, 2025

The union of judicial authorities and employees of judicial bodies were on strike on 26 March, because the requirements for improving the financial position of employees in the judiciary have still not been met. The union demands, among other things, the signing of a protocol on the increase of the salary calculation base for judges, public prosecutors and other employees of judicial bodies, of at least 20%. The previous one-day protest was held on 18 March, and the Judiciary Union points out that in the meantime employees in the judiciary were threatened with forfeiture of their wages for the time spent on strike, and that the Ministry of Justice did not show even the slightest willingness to discuss finding a compromise solution regarding the demands.
