Serbia - Strike at schools - February 28, 2025

On 13 and 14 February, there was a mass teachers' strike. It was called by the teachers of the new Association of Schools on Strike, whose center is in Čačak, a city where few schools have been working since the beginning of the second semester. The founder of the Association of Schools on Strike says that their idea was not to create a new educational union, but to simply unite dissatisfied teachers in order to organize themselves more easily. So far, 400 out of a total of 1.700 schools have joined the association. For months, educators have been expressing dissatisfaction with their salaries and overall position in society, and now some high school students and university students are supporting them.
