Serbia - Agreement for health and social care - February 28, 2025

A protocol aimed at improving the conditions of health and social care workers was signed by several unions, including Trade Union of Employees in Healthcare and Social Care, following negotiations with the Government. The agreement includes a 5% salary increase starting in October 2025, adjustments to salary coefficients for nurses and healthcare specialists, and the introduction of benefits such as meal allowances and holiday pay. It also outlines plans to align non-medical staff salaries in healthcare with those in other public services performing similar roles. While several unions agreed to the protocol, the Health and Social Care Branch Trade Union "Nezavisnost"has refused to sign. The union argues that the measures do not adequately address systemic issues such as underfunding of public institutions, inequities in pay, and a lack of recognition for professional qualifications.
