Several thousand employees from health, education, administration and transport protested in the streets on 29 October, mobilized by the four major union confederations: the Confederation of Democratic Unions of Romania (CSDR), the National Union Confederation “Cartel ALFA”, CNSLR-Frăția and the National Union Confederation “Meridian”. Union leaders are demanding an increase in the minimum wage and pensions, respect for workers’ legal and contractual rights, fair taxation, investments in public administration, and an end to the sale of state-owned companies.
