Portugal - Airport strike cancelled amid court rulings - September 30, 2025

On 18 September, ground‑handling staff at airports (Menzies) announced the cancellation of the planned strike periods (spanning into January) after a court imposed minimum service requirements they deemed 'unrealistic', arguing these mandates undermined their ability to strike. The strike was called for by the Metallurgical and Related Industries Union (SIMA) and the Transport Union (STA). The unions protested that 100% minimum service for domestic flights and 35% for international flights made the strike ineffective.
