Trade union SINTAP and the administration of water provider Águas de Portugal signed an agreement on 13 March, securing a wage increase for more than 3,200 workers. The agreement, retroactive from January 2025, follows Government guidelines allowing state-owned companies to raise their total wage bill by up to 4.7% compared to 2024. Workers’ earning up to level G3 will receive a € 65 increase, while those above will see a 3% rise. The company’s minimum wage is now set at € 970. While this agreement resolves immediate salary concerns, discussions will now begin on a broader review of the sectoral collective agreement (ACT). This process, requiring separate approval, will cover career structures, job classifications, salary scales, and the transition to new career frameworks.
