Average gross wages fell in the second quarter to PLN 8,748.63 (€ 1,995) from PLN 8,962.28 (€ 2,040) in the first quarter, according to new data from Statistics Poland (GUS). The more notable development is the slowdown in year-on-year wage growth. Average pay in the second quarter was just 8.8% higher than a year earlier – the slowest increase since early 2021, more than four years ago. It also marked the first time since the start of 2022 that wage growth has been in single digits.
