On 15 October the Sejm (Parliament) adopted a landmark law on collective agreements and collective bargaining that aims to boost the scope of collective agreements and streamline procedures. The new regulations implement the EU directive on adequate minimum wages, which aims, among other things, to promote collective bargaining. The Act introduces electronic registration of agreements and includes mediation if the parties fail to reach an agreement during negotiations, and greater flexibility – collective agreements can be concluded for a fixed term (with the option of extension) or for an indefinite term.
