Poland - Minimum wage higher than US federal rate - January 31, 2025

The country’s minimum hourly wage has, for the first time, surpassed the federal minimum wage in the United States. On 1 January, the minimum wage rose to 30.50 zloty (€ 7.24) per hour before tax, which at the average exchange rate so far this year is $ 7.35. That puts it above the current federal minimum wage in the US, which has stood at $ 7.25/hour since 2009 (though most individual US states have their own, higher minimum wage). The new hourly minimum wage is around 8.5% higher than the one that had been in place since last July and 10.1% higher than a year ago.
