Netherlands - Strike in hospitals called off - March 31, 2025

Union FNV called off the announced strike in hospitals. The healthcare unions and the Dutch Hospital Association (NVZ) reached a negotiation result for the new collective agreement. This includes higher salaries, allowances for irregular shifts, a time-saving scheme and a change of clothes allowance. The salaries of the more than 225,000 hospital employees will increase in four steps by 8%: first 2% in February 2025, followed by 2% in August 2025. In 2026, another 2% will be added in February and another 2% in August. Working irregular shifts will be better rewarded. In addition, measures to reduce work pressure will be taken and there will also be a € 50 change allowance for those who have to change in the hospital for hygiene reasons.
