Lashers and employers at the Port of Rotterdam have reached a new collective agreement following a five-day strike that disrupted container operations. The FNV Harbour union and the lashing companies agreed on wage increases of over 4% annually through 2028, in addition to automatic price indexation. Under the agreement, wages for lashers will rise by around 17–20% over the next three years. Negotiations had stalled over wage demands, with lashers being portrayed as high earners seeking further increases, while they argued that their work is physically demanding, dirty and often performed at unsociable hours.
