Trade unions have reached a negotiation result with the universities for a new collective agreement. The agreement will improve purchasing power for employees, with extra attention to lower incomes and social issues such as workload, social safety, and equal pay for equal work. The collective agreement will run for 12 months. Starting 1 July, wages will increase by 2%, and in addition employees will receive a fixed amount of € 100 per month. On average, this represents a structural pay increase of 4.2%, with higher increases for those earning less. In addition, all employees will receive a one-off payment of € 350 gross. Another important agreement is the establishment of a € 45 million Employability Fund. This budget will be used to support employees during times of budget cuts and reorganizations. Unions and employers will cooperate to address social safety. In addition, there is explicit attention to equal pay for men and women.
