Netherlands - Historic pay rise for pharmacy workers - March 31, 2025

After more than nine months of tough negotiations, actions and strikes, pharmacy employees are getting a substantial pay rise. In total, their salaries will increase by 20% over the next two years. In 2027, there will be an additional increase. This is stated in a general agreement between unions and employers, which was concluded after mediation had taken place. In 2027, the entire Government contribution for market-based employment conditions in healthcare will also be used to increase wages. As a consequence, the total wage increase will be even higher. The union members will vote on the agreement and if they agree, the new collective agreement will come into effect retroactively on 1 July 2024 and will run until 31 December 2027.
