Netherlands - 7.64% more pay for civil servants in municipalities - April 30, 2025

The salaries of 220,000 municipal employees will increase by an average of 7.64% in 2 years. The minimum hourly wage will also increase to € 16. This was agreed by the public sector unions and the Association of Dutch Municipalities (VNG). The allowance for irregular services will increase by 35% on weekends and holidays. Employees aged 55 and over will no longer have to work night shifts. The unions will inform their members in the coming weeks about this result for the new collective agreement for municipalities, after which the members can vote. If they agree, the collective agreement will run from 1 April 2025 to 1 April 2027. The result follows a final offer that the VNG submitted to the unions on 17 April.
