Lithuania - Union criticizes tender for public transport - May 31, 2025

Ttrade union “Solidarumas”, sent a letter to Vilnius Mayor and the director of the public enterprise “Susisiekimo paslaugos” regarding the tender for the provision of public passenger transport services, drawing attention to the low salaries of drivers, which are only suitable for third-country workers, and the unsuitability of electric buses and drivers from abroad in the event of an evacuation of institutions and residents from Vilnius. The union says it is surprised that business, having the money to buy a bus costing about half a million euros, does not have the money to pay the driver who will drive this expensive bus a salary that ensures a decent life.
