The Latvian Aviation Union (LAA) has filed a collective interest dispute application regarding the conclusion of a new collective agreement with airline company Air Baltic and at the same time invites the company's board to negotiations on 16 June to reach a fair agreement on working conditions, wages and safety. The union explained that there are three main reasons for the dispute application. One of them is the long-standing refusal to conclude a new collective agreement that provides for fair wages for all employees, including those who actually work in other European countries, but receive wages at Latvian rates. According to the union, the company is actively using employees as cheap labour.
