Unions representing private healthcare and nursing home workers are intensifying their mobilisation over long-expired national collective agreements. FP CGIL, CISL FP, and UIL FPL have called on the Government and regional authorities to take immediate steps to unblock stalled negotiations with employers’ associations AIOP and ARIS. Contracts for workers in private hospitals and care homes have been frozen for 8 and 13 years, respectively. At a demonstration in Rome on 21 July, union leaders urged the Ministry of Health to condition public funding for accredited private healthcare on wage increases and contract renewal. Only ARIS has so far convened a meeting for the RSA sector, while talks with AIOP remain blocked.
