The Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) highlighted concerns that minimum-wage workers will be shortchanged by approximately €600 next year unless stronger collective bargaining rights are enforced. The union argues that low bargaining coverage and weak rights undermine wage development. According to the unions, the 2026 budget will hurt workers. It tells ordinary workers to hand around €250 in subsidies to profitable corporations like McDonald's. It does nothing to make the structural changes needed to secure the economic future.
