The Iceland Symphony Orchestra's union signed a collective agreement with the state today. Members had been without a contract since March last year, but for a while it looked like strike action might be taken. Collective bargaining had stalled over getting a pay increase this year that was included in last year's so-called stability agreements. Earlier this month, it was reported that wage negotiations were at a delicate stage and that a vote on a strike would be possible if a deal could not be reached this month. The new wage agreement will be presented to union members, who will then vote on it.
