The European Union is providing 5 million forints (€ 12,000) per teacher to support their wage increases until 2030, the European Commission's Hungarian representative said. The EU is paying € 1.8 billion to support the wage increase between 2024 and 2030, and this means that the average wage of teachers will be maintained at 80% of the average graduate wage. The ultimate aim of the salary program is to enhance the attractiveness of the profession and improve quality and access to education.
