Hungary - Disagreement about minimum wage increase - October 31, 2025

After the State Secretary for Employment Policy had previously admitted that the 13% minimum wage increase planned for next year, decided within the framework of the long-term wage agreement, cannot be maintained, the gap between the positions of the unions and the employers is quite large. The trade unions have proposed a 12% minimum wage increase for next year, but, according to the Minister of National Economy, the employers are only thinking about an 8-9% increase. The Minister said that although negotiations are still ongoing, it looks like there will be no agreement without state intervention.
