In the fifth round of negotiations, the NGG (Food, Tobacco, Hotel & Allied workers’ Union) and the Association of German Large Bakeries reached a new agreement for workers in the bread industry in the Northwest of the country. The agreement provides for a total wage increase of 5.6% in two steps, as well as a one-off payment of € 600 for the months of May to August 2025. The agreement is valid for 24 months. The agreement was preceded by long and difficult negotiations. The workers went on strike for almost 500 hours in three waves. The NGG states: “the outcome is satisfactory. The employers made no concessions. Every additional tenth of a percent was fought for by the workers”.
