Germany - New agreement for horticulture - April 30, 2025

IG BAU union and the Baden-Württemberg-Hessen Horticultural Association (GVBWH) have agreed on a new collective agreement for horticulture workers. It took effect on 1 May 2025, and will run for 12 months. The core of the agreement is significant wage increases and the introduction of new, uniform pay groups. Instead of the previous multitude of wage and salary groups, there will now be seven clear pay groups that apply in both federal states. Master craftsmen (pay group 2) will earn € 19.30 per hour – an increase of up to 10.2%. Gardeners with training (pay group 4) will receive € 16.00 per hour – an increase of up to 8.4%. Unskilled workers (pay group 5) earn € 13.50 per hour – an increase of up to 3.7%. Also included in the package: Capital-forming benefits will increase to € 22 per month.
