Germany - Higher pay and shorter hours in mineral resources industry - September 30, 2025

On 22 September 2025, the collective bargaining commission of the IG BAU union reached a collective agreement for employees in the Thuringian mineral resources industry in intensive negotiations with the employers. The most important results at a glance: From 1 October, 2025, all wages will increase by € 95 (fixed amount). From 1 July 2026: a reduction in working hours by 0.5 hours per week (from 40 to 39.5 hours) with full wage compensation. From 1 October 2026: increase in all wages by a further 3.3%. From 1 January 2028: further reduction in working hours by 0.5 hours per week (from 39.5 to 39 hours) with full wage compensation. From 1 October 2025 and 1 October 2026, increase of allowances by € 45 for all trainees. The collective agreement runs for 24 months, from 1 October 2025, to 30 September 2027.
