Germany - 9% more pay for temporary agency workers - September 30, 2025

The German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) has reached a collective agreement with the German Association of Personnel Service Providers (GVP) in the second round of negotiations. Around 650,000 temporary agency workers will receive more pay over the next 24 months. Starting 1 January 2026, wages will increase by 2.99%, starting 1 September 2026, a further 2.5% will follow. Starting 1 April 2027, wages will increase by 3.5%. Vacation and Christmas bonuses will also increase along with the wage increases. Bonus payments for union members will also increase. The new collective wage agreement can be terminated for the first time on 30 September 2027. Temporary agency work is the only sector in which all eight member unions negotiate jointly as the DGB collective bargaining association. The collective agreements cover over 90% of temporary agency workers nationwide.
