Germany - 4.1% pay rise for metalworkers in North Rhine-Westphalia - October 31, 2025

A new collective agreement was reached by IG Metall North Rhine-Westphalia in the third round of negotiations with the employers' association Fachverband Metall. More money for 58,000 employees in the metalworking trade in North Rhine-Westphalia: Incomes will increase by a total of 4.1% in two stages. Starting in January 2026, there will be a 2.85% increase, followed by another 1.25% in December 2026. The collective agreement runs until 31 March 2027. Apprentices will also benefit disproportionately. Their wages will increase by €45 in the first year, €49 in the second year, €60 in the third year, and €65 in the fourth year. This is intended to make apprenticeships more attractive and facilitate the recruitment of skilled workers.
