Rail unions and the management of railway company SNCF have still not reached an agreement on wages and schedules, raising the possibility of a week of strikes in the transport sector starting May 5. Ticket inspectors are being called to strike on May 9, 10, and 11 by Sud-Rail, the third-largest union at SNCF but the second-largest among ticket inspectors. The CGT-Cheminots (National Collective of the French National Union of Railway Workers), the largest union, has called for action starting May 5. Sud-Rail has also called for drivers to strike on May 7.
