The Service Union United PAM and the Finnish Commerce Federation announced a retail industry strike which started on 17 Feburary. The industrial action encompassed some 70,000 workers and impact around 3,000 sites. According to PAM, the union is still too far from reaching a compromise with the employers, and the national conciliator has not presented a solution either. PAM said it is seeking wage increases that would bring employees' purchasing power back to the level it was a few years ago.
