The ETUC is calling on affiliates to join a major mobilisation for quality jobs on 7 October in Vienna, marking the World Day for Decent Work. The action will combine a visible street mobilisation with a high-level panel on the Quality Jobs Roadmap announced by the European Commission. The mobilisation is being organised in response to the European Commission’s initiative, to underline that only binding EU measures can deliver on quality jobs. ETUC stresses that voluntary guidelines are not enough and that Europe urgently needs enforceable rules to strengthen collective bargaining, secure fair pay, improve working conditions and ensure decent work in every workplace. The action will also signal clear opposition to deregulation and the erosion of labour standards.
