At the Economic and Financial Affairs configuration of the Council of the EU, member states adopted the first part of the omnibus package, which is intended to remove a large part of the obligations on companies linked to the corporate sustainability reporting and due diligence directives (CSRD and CSDDD). This so-called ‘Stop-the-clock’ mechanism provides for a two-year postponement of the application of the CSRD for companies that have not yet applied it, as well as a one-year postponement of the CSDDD. The debate continues on the extent of the amendments to the texts definitively adopted during the previous European mandate.
