On 19 September 2025, it was announced that public sector wages will rise by 1.3% for state employees as of 1 November, under the “ultimoforhandling” clause triggered by wage developments in the private sector. Municipal employees will see a smaller increase of 0.298% on 1 October and a further adjustment with the ultimoforhandling later. Unions welcome the extra bump but warn that real wage erosion persists given inflation pressures. The mechanism of ultimoforhandling, embedded in the public sector collective agreement OK24, is being closely watched ahead of the next negotiation cycle.
