Czechia - Strike alert to defend employees’ rights - February 28, 2025

The Council of the Czech-Moravian Confederation of Trade Unions (ČMKOS) declares a strike alert in response to the upcoming amendment to the Labour Code, which includes, among others, a proposal allowing dismissal without giving a reason by the employer. According to the union confederation, this proposal represents an unprecedented threat to job security and a fundamental weakening of employee rights. ČMKOS warns that if the amendment is approved in its current form, they are prepared to escalate protest actions, including initiating preparations for a general strike.
