The Cyprus Workers’ Confederation (SEK) has called for urgent government action on wages after a survey revealed 75% of workers are dissatisfied with their pay and 62% struggle to meet financial obligations. The survey, conducted by IMR/University of Nicosia, found only 7% of workers report living comfortably on their current income, while 70% feel financially insecure. The union, which now represents over 50,000 members across various economic sectors, warned it would not agree to approaches that “downgrade workers’ living standards” or endanger labour relations.
